 TYPES OF TOOL BARS

There are two types of tool bars in word processor

a)      Standard tool bar

b)      Formatting Toolbar

Using the Microsoft Word steps

a)      Click the start button to bring start menu

b)      From the pull down menu click on Microsoft word

 Creating a New document

Creating a new document is a primary task in Word processing. Word 2010 opens a blank space ones you open the program from the start menu. The new document is based on a standard template and with default settings. Start typing your text right away or you can equally create a new document based on your own custom settings.

To create a Document

A.      Click on the office button

B.      A dialog box appears

C.      Click on new

D.      A dialog box appears

E.       You can start typing

Saving a Document

To save a document is to store it in the computer or other storage device for future use.

Steps for Saving a Document

A.      Click on the office button

B.      A dialog box appears

C.      Click on save, a dialog appears

D.      Type the name with which you want to save it and click save.

 

Opening An existing Document

A.      From the office button, click open

B.      Click on the document. If the document is saved there or any other storage device. It will open

Printing a Document

A.      Click on office button

B.      Click print and the dialog box appears

C.      Select print option such as printers name, page range etc.

D.      Click on OK or press ENTER KEY

 

Closing your Document and quitting Word 2010

When you finish working with a document, you can close it and exit from word. Make sure you save your work before exiting.

 

To close a Document in Word

From the Title bar, click on X button. The first window closes

 

To close and exit from word

From office button, choose exit.

 

FORMATTING TEXT AND INSERTING A TABLE IN MS- WORD

Tables help us to organize columnar information. You can use different tables to create different document and form, financial report and catalogs. Tables are made up of rows and columns of data typed in a cell. The intersection of a row is and a column is called a cell.
