NATIONAL UNITY AND INTEGRATION
National unity and integration: Nigeria is made up of many ethnic groups who rule themselves through various means based on kinship.
The Hausa/Fulanis had Emirs and Sarkis as their kings, the Yorubas/Edos have Obas while the Igbos were ruled by elders and village assembly.
National unity has now brought us together as brothers and sisters, most ethnic groups in Nigeria inter-marry, this brings about unity despite our differences.

National unity is the desire of the citizens of a country to promote peace and stability (common interest) in them country.
Factors that Promote National Unity
There must be peace in the country
There must be security in the country
There must be good government in power
The economy of the country must be strong
NATIONAL SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANING
National symbols are marks, signs and objects for which the country is known/recognized. Examples of these natural symbols are the constitution, map pledge, Anthem, flag, coat of arms, currency and passports.
(a) The constitution: is a body of rule and regulations which is used to govern a state or country. Nigeria is presently operating the 1999 constitution. It is a federal constitution. It gives powers and guides all the various institutions of government.
Consciousness means the condition of being awake and able to understand what is happening around us. It also means a person’s ideas feelings or opinions about politics life and his environment. It also means awareness.
Self-consciousness mean awareness about oneself, what one is, what he can do or what he has.
Group consciousness it is the awareness within the group of what they have, their role and their ability.
