What is data?, What is information?
Data refers to raw facts yet to be processed. It is a fact, number or text that can be processed by a computer. Data has no meaning to the user unless processed to get meaningful information.
Source of data
Data can be obtained by any one or more of the following methods.
Observation of people, activities or event
Face to face interviews
Test or examination scores, etc.
Information transmission is the exchange of information from the sender to the receiver in any form, i.e through voice, data, text and image over any kind of media, hand written medium, etc.
There are two methods of information transmission namely: (i) Ancient methods of information transmission (ii) Modern methods of transmitting information
Evolution of information and communication technology (ICT) has passed through different stages, namely; invention of printing stage, invention of radio and television stage, invention of computer stage as well as linking up computers with information and communication technology (ICT).
