Sections of the Keyboard The Keyboard is divided into five sections; I.            Alphanumeric keys( Alphabet and Numbers): consist of alphabet (a-z) and numbers (0-9) II.            Function keys F1-f12: they are twelve in number f1-F12 and are located horizontally on the first row of the enhanced keyboards. On standard keyboard they are labeled F1-F10 III.            Control keys- Del, Ctrl, Esc and alt: These are used in line with other keys to instruct to perform specific task. IV.            Cursor –Control and screen movement keys-Arrow, home, end, page up etc.: it allows the user to move cursor to the left, Right, up online and down one line. V.            Numeric keypad: these are usually situated at the extreme right hand corner of modern keyboard. An Input Device is any computer hardware equipment used to feed or send data into the main storage of a computer for processing. KEYBOARD This is a board that contains many which users can connect to the system unit to be able to enter words, numbers and special characters. It is an input device. The most common type of keyword nowadays is the QWERTY keyboard (name obtained from the first six letters on it).   FEATURES OR STRUCTURES OF THE KEYBOARD Function Keys: They are used for special operations such as F1 for help, F12 for save etc. they are keysf1 – f12. Alphanumeric or Typing Keys: They are used for entering text (i.e. word and numbers for instance in letter typing) they are keys A-Z, 0-9 and special characters {e.g.,:,’’,>,<, }. AN INPUT DEVICE This is a device which is used to enter data into the computer system. All input devices are collectively called input unit (i.e. input unit of the computer hard ware is made of input devices).
