Part Time Assistant Teacher in Lakeland, US

Summary

This position is responsible for the instruction and development of children in order to meet their academic, spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical needs. The Assistant Teacher must be willing to work in a Christian environment, work alongside the Lead teacher, provide a positive classroom atmosphere, comply with all rules set forth by the Tennessee State Department of Human Services, and St. Paul United Methodist Church. The Assistant Teacher will report to and is supervised by the Director.

• Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
• 19.5 hours weekly
• Follows the Arlington/Lakeland Community School Calendar

Duties

• Creating an educational environment that encourages student learning and allows free choice centers
• Teach daily lessons in Lead Teachers absence
• Teach Keeping Kids Safe Curriculum
• Preparing instructional materials for classroom geared toward students interests and abilities
• Create scrapbook for each student
• Supervising and maintaining safety of all students in the classroom and various places throughout the preschool at all times
• Following and implementing behavior modification plans adopted by St Paul UMC Preschool
• Communicating daily with parents during pick up/drop off and through publications
• Maintaining accurate and complete records and daily role keeping
• Performing other related duties as assigned or directed

Requirements

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent
• Preschool classroom experience preferred
• Must pass a Background check
